Crisis and Chaos: The Dismantling of the CDC

Vaccine skeptics hold beliefs that are rooted in conspiracy theories and misinformation leading to mistrust in scientific institutions and the medical community.

This is who Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is, a vaccine skeptic conspiracy theorist. Why in the hell would any administration appoint him to Health and Human Services Secretary? That is what the current administration did, endangering the health of the nation and therefore you and your community.

In less than seven months an estimated 3,000 CDC employees were laid off or pressured to resign negatively impacting critical divisions of the department.

Public Surveillance Programs - Related to chronic diseases prevention, Immunizations, and disease surveillance.

Disease Detectives - Responsible for responding to outbreaks all over the country, for example measles.

Workforce Preparedness - Staff who coordinate state and federal health departments in times of crisis such as pandemics and outbreaks of disease. As well as other critical personnel.

Chaos followed these mass firings requiring the re-hiring of some.

A measles outbreak in Texas and recently in Michigan and South Carolina, a disease all but eradicated in the United States for decades, is now having a resurgence. An uptick in Bird-flu infestation in commercial poultry and wild birds that has everyone on alert for bird to human transmission.

In August, 500 Million dollars in funding was cut halting MRNA research and development and it's potential to treat chronic diseases like Cancer, HIV, Diabetes and Multiple Sclerosis. Yes the same technology that produced a vaccine that ended a pandemic that killed millions of Americans and millions worldwide.

False statements made regarding efficacy. Unsubstantiated risks of getting vaccines in general, all creating doubt in medical research and data.

Most recently, changes to COVID and childhood vaccine recommendations limiting the availability of those vaccines if you can't afford to go to a private physician for a prescription and insurance to pay for it. The federal government will no longer cover it for most people. The most impacted, people of our community.

How did this happen? Not that just the current administration let us down by nominating Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as the HHS Secretary. It was members of the United States Senate who voted to confirm that nomination. Yes, those Senators that look past all of the warnings and red flags. The same Senators that will be seeking your vote for the November 2026 mid-term elections.

Remember this when you go to the ballot. Look to see if your representative in the United States Senate voted to confirm Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
